Statement Of Faith

We believe:

1. That the Bible, as original, consisting of the Old and New Testaments, is inspired by God, and is the final authority for Doctrine and Life. (Rom 15:4; 2 Tim 3:15-17; 2 Pet 1:20-21).

2. That there is ONE GOD, the Father, the Son and the Holy Spirit, equal in power and authority. (Deut 4:35; Matt 28:19, Phil 2:6-7).

3.

(a) That God created ADAM in His own image, and constituted him the federal representative of all his posterity (Gen 1: 26-27).

(b) That Adam fell from his high estate by disobedience, and thus involved himself and the whole human race in ruin (Gen 3:1-7, 17-19; Rom 5:12; 1 Cor 15:21-23).

4. That JESUS CHRIST:

a) Is Gods only begotten Son (John 3:16)

b) Was born of a virgin (Matt 1:23; Gal 4:4)

c) Lived a sinless life as a man (Heb 4:15)

d) Died on the Cross, was buried, rose again on the third day (1 Cor 15:3-4)

e) Is coming again to judge the living and the dead (Matt 24:29-30).

5. That all MEN are conceived and born in sin and are sinners, and that salvation from sin is only by repentance and faith in Christ alone (Ps 51:5; Rom 3:23-24; 2 Pet 3:9; Acts 2:38; Eph 2:8-9; Gal 2:16).

6. That the HOLY SPIRIT:

a) Convicts men of sin and brings about regeneration resulting in personal salvation; regeneration is the work of the Holy Spirit (John 16:8-11; Titus 3:5)

b) Dwells in every believer from the moment of conversion, quickens, sanctifies, and prepares him for heaven (Rom 8:9; Eph 1:13-14; Phil 1:6; 1 Thes 5:23).

c) Apportions to each member of the Church individually the Spiritual gifts as He wills. The exercising of the Spiritual gifts is for the common good in order to build up the body of Christ (The church). (1 Cor 12:4-11).

7. That the "UNIVERSAL CHURCH", which consists of all true believers everywhere in this world; and the "LOCAL CHURCH", which consists of all true believers at a locality (e.g Krokop Evangelical Church is one of the local churches in Miri).

8. That the Lord Jesus Christ being the Head of the church gave the two (2) sacraments of BAPTISM and HOLY COMMUNION. (Eph 5:23; Matt 28:19-20; 26:26-28; 1 Cor 11:23-26).

9. That there will be a RESURRECTION both of the just and the unjust, and that the Lord Jesus Christ will judge both the living and the dead, when the wicked will be sent into everlasting punishment, and the righteous will enter into eternal life (Acts 24:15; John 5:28-29).

10. That the Lord Jesus Christ has given the Church to fulfill the GREAT COMMISSION before His return. The Church should be the "Salt of the earth" and the "light of the world", i.e. to preserve and to attract the people of the world to Christ (Matt 28:18-20; Mk 16:15; Matt 24:14; 5:13-16).

11. THE APOSTLES' CREED

I believe in God, the Father Almighty, creator of heaven and earth.

I believe in Jesus Christ, His only Son, our Lord.

He was conceived by the power of the Holy Spirit and born of the Virgin Mary. He suffered under Pontius Pilate, was crucified, died and was buried. He descended to the dead. On the third day He rose again. He ascended into heaven, and is seated at the right hand of the Father. He will come again to judge the living and the dead.

I believe in the Holy Spirit, the holy catholic (universal) church, the communion of saints, the forgiveness of sins, the resurrection of the body, and the life everlasting.)

12. THE NICENE CREED

We believe in one God, the Father, the Almighty, maker of heaven and earth, of all that is seen and unseen.

We believe in one Lord, Jesus Christ, the only Son of God, eternally begotten of the Father, God from God, Light from Light, true God from true God, begotten, not made, one in being with the Father. Through Him all things were made. For us men and for our salvation He came down from heaven: by the power of the Holy Spirit He was born of the Virgin Mary, and became man. For our sake He was crucified under Pontius Pilate; He suffered, died, and was buried. On the third day He rose again in fulfillment of the Scriptures; He ascended into heaven and is seated at the right hand of the Father. He will come again in glory to judge the living and the dead, and His kingdom will have no end.

We believe in the Holy Spirit, the Lord, the giver of life, who proceeds from the Father (and the Son). With the Father and the Son He is worshipped and glorified. He has spoken through the Prophets.

We believe in one holy catholic (universal) and apostolic church. We acknowledge one baptism for the forgiveness of sins. We look for the resurrection of the dead, and the life of the world to come.

Amen.

Our Father who art in heaven,
